Il 3 giugno su Facebook è stata pubblicata un’immagine che mostrerebbe un fotogramma di una puntata della serie televisiva animata The Simpson, in cui appare il capo della polizia Clarence Winchester mentre tiene un piede sul collo di un personaggio afroamericano a terra. Alle spalle dei due, appare la figlia di Homer Simpson, Lisa, con un cartello in mano con la scritta «Justice for George» e il disegno di un cuore rosso. Il riferimento è alle proteste legate all’omicidio di George Floyd, afroamericano deceduto il 25 maggio 2020 durante un arresto. Quattro poliziotti sono stati incriminati per la morte dell’uomo. L’immagine è accompagnata da un commento in cui si sostiene che si tratterebbe di una scena del sesto episodio dell’undicesima stagione della serie andata in onda nel 1990.

Questa notizia è falsa. L’immagine infatti non mostra una puntata de I Simpson andata in onda nel 1990. La scena non compare in nessuna stagione della serie televisiva.

Il disegno in questione – in cui si chiede giustizia per George Floyd – è stato in realtà pubblicato per la prima volta il 30 maggio 2020 sul profilo Instagram dell’artista Yuri Pomo, come si può verificare qui. Si tratta quindi di un prodotto artistico comparso online cinque giorni dopo l’uccisione di George Floyd.
